  • Advocacy – Harrow is a fantastic town because of the many cultures and languages we find on our doorstep. Our advocacy for carers is to give a single voice to this diversity and bring about positive change in your life.
  • Carers’ Referral formsSelf Referral form or Professional Referral form
  • Direct Payments – the first port of call for carers is an assessment carried out by Harrow Council Social Services (also called Access Harrow). To see the eligibility and options for assessment please view the information here: Harrow Council: Support for Unpaid Carers
  • Homecare Providers – we now offer a person centred bespoke Respite Service to help maintain the health and wellbeing of all unpaid Carers in the London Borough of Harrow. The first thing we carry out for you is a care needs assessment, including a risk assessment and behavioural and emergency medical assessments if applicable. This is to ensure that all aspects of safety are covered and enables us to ensure we can meet the needs of the carer and the cared-for. Services for Adults Who Care for Adults in Harrow

This page provides information on Harrow Carers working in collaboration with Harrow Council to provide a comprehensive range of services to meet the needs of carers in the borough of Harrow, as per The Care Act 2014.

The Care Act 2014 = positive changes by local authorities:
Looking at the outcomes a carer wishes to achieve
Meeting eligible needs of carers and preparing a support plan
Assessing the needs of carers even if their cared-for is not accessing services

Eligible needs are:

  • Carrying out any caring responsibilities for a child/children
  • Maintaining a habitable home environment
  • Managing and maintaining nutrition
  • Developing and maintaining family or other significant personal relationships
  • Engaging in work, training, education or volunteering
  • Making use of necessary facilities or services in the local community
  • Engaging in recreational activities

If you feel that your caring role is impacting on your ability to do any of the things listed above, then Harrow Carers offers the following services FREE for 6 weeks for carers:
